In December, the Canal & River Trust put forward 4 options to upgrade the towpath alongside the Wendover end of the Wendover Arm Canal. The sad picture below is not the worst of what’s there now. A decision on whether to proceed is to be taken at the Wendover Communities Board on 16th March. Wendover Arm Trust is actively campaigning for at least the stretch within Wendover Parish to be upgraded, which would cost £300K.
It is strategically important to proceed with this project, as it forms part of the Grand Union Canal Triangle, and the strategic reasons are in the document linked at the foot of this page. Significant progress has already been made on the Aylesbury Arm section of the Triangle, but not yet on the Wendover Arm Canal.
