The future

Obviously, we at the Wendover Arm Trust want to see the canal restored to its former glory.  We believe that having a navigable canal in the community adds to the value of our environment, whether that be through making a beautiful environment for sharing with your family on a walk, or whether it be through the attraction of visitors to the area which is good for local business.

The work involved in restoring the canal is considerable and is wider than just putting water back into the channel.  It covers the immediate surrounding areas, such as towpaths or bordering buildings, and then also affects elements of the area that have developed considerably since the canal’s closure in 1904, specifically roads and road bridges.

So the work is hard, but the vision is a beautiful one!
