We thought we’d take this opportunity to give you the low down on the recent activity on the canal, courtesy of the working party of volunteers who regularly get their hands dirty and make the all important restoration!
The main task for the August working party was completing as much as possible of the remaining 250 metres of Stage 2 pipe capping and backfilling the offside bank ready for it to consolidate during the coming winter.
A number of reinforced concrete slabs were cast ready for the capping of various manholes, which needs to be done so that the backfilling of the off side of the canal can be completed over these manholes. In all 40 cubic metres of ready-mix concrete were poured during the working party!
While ready-mix concrete was being poured in the vicinity, the opportunity was taken to fix the bench seat at peg 40 in memory of Ron Palmer that is being sponsored by his widow. If you are interested in sponsoring some of our activities then please do take a look at our sponsor page.
Plans are being made for the September Working Party, so if you want to get involved please do get in touch with us at restoration@wendoverarmtrust.co.uk.
